This prophecy tells us that the vile person
shall no longer be called liberal. The vile person here means the pampered
and stingy person who will scarcely part with any thing and that which he
does give, he gives with an evil expression and a grudging heart. A Liberal
is a generous, openhearted and noble person who recognizes that all of their
possessions are to be used for both personal benefit and for the benefit of
all. The Liberal lives only to use wealth to do good.
The churl is avaricious and interested only in
hoarding for themselves, thinking that all is mine, all I have is my own,
and all I can get is for myself. Yet these people enjoy nothing, they
withhold from themselves, and even their family and acquaintances, any
pleasure from their possessions because of a cursed lust for wealth for its
own sake. The vile money loving wretches, by their own stingy heart, are
first starved in this world; then damned in that to come!
The churl are not bountiful, they are vile.
The Bountiful rejoice in their plenty and give to the suffering with a
generous liberal hand. The vile person speaks treachery against others and
the same fool will be thoughtless regarding the needs of anyone. This way of
speaking and feeling is a serious mistake according to the ways of The Lord.
These scheming designs were familiar to the
prophet. He frequently dealt those who worked to destroy the poor with lying
words and to make the needs of the poor unknown.
The Liberal will live for generous purposes
and stand for the principles of generosity.
